Traduttori Hi-Tech, è realmente cambiato qualcosa?

Recentemente sono molto di moda i cosiddetti traduttori Hi-Tech sviluppati come software indipendenti ed online come google translate e babelfish, ma anche come app per iPhone o telefonini basati su Android.
Tra le app per smartphone segnaliamo iTranslate per iPhone e Translate Plus per Android, due app molto valide che non solo permettono di tradurre in svariate lingue, ma anche di sentire la pronuncia delle parole tradotte, un aiuto decisivo per poter farsi capire all'estero.

Cosa è cambiato dai vecchi traduttori?

In realtà ai fini pratici non molto è cambiato, sicuramente i nuovi traduttori sono più fedeli, ma su lunghi testi hanno ancora parecchie difficoltà. Quello che è realmente cambiato è la tecnologia di programmazione che sta alla base di tali software. I vecchi software utilizzavano l'analisi linguistica e poi traducevano parola per parola, tecnica che come ben sappiamo spesso può portare ad imbarazzanti errori. La nuova generazione invece sfrutta un mix di semantica e statistica per estrapolare il significato delle parole in base al contesto. La tecnica è ancora acerba e c'è parecchio da lavorare, ma la strada sembra finalmente quella giusta.

Come scrivere annunci Adwords efficaci

Cosa sia Adwords ormai è qualcosa di assodato nel mondo della rete.
E' comprovata anche la sua efficacia, paradossalmente a volte funziona anche troppo bene!
Sfruttare però appieno le sue potenzialità, senza spreco di tempo e denaro non è così immediato,
ci sono infatti alcune linee guida e consigli da tenere presente per evitare errori grossolani.
Le prime considerazione da fare sono sugli annunci e sulla loro qualità, infatti questa oltre ad attrarre maggiormente potenziali clienti o visitatori può anche influire sul CPC medio (costo per click medio).
Dalle linee guida di google si intuisce chiaramente che per annunci di qualità sarà necessario un importo CPC minore per posizioni di visualizzazione migliori. Vediamo alcuni consigli base su come scrivere annunci di qualità:

• Includi prezzi e promozioni. Maggiori informazioni sul prodotto un utente può ottenere dal testo dell'annuncio, meglio è. Ad esempio, se un utente vede il prezzo di un prodotto e fa clic sull'annuncio, puoi essere certo che è interessato a un potenziale acquisto a quel prezzo. Se il prezzo non lo attira, non farà clic sul tuo annuncio, e risparmierai il costo del clic.
  
• Includi un invito a fare qualcosa, come "compra", "ordina" o "acquista". Benché "trova" e " cerca" siano termini precisi, queste parole implicano che l'utente è ancora nella fase della consapevolezza o dell'interesse e non qualificheranno l'utente come un acquirente quanto le tre precedenti.
  
• Rivedi l'elenco delle parole chiave per scegliere il titolo dell'annuncio. Trova le parole chiave con il numero maggiore di clic o impressioni. Ad esempio, se la frase chiave "pubblicità online" genera chiaramente la maggior parte di clic e impressioni nell'account, utilizza questo termine nel titolo dell'annuncio. Si tratta di un metodo valido per aumentare la percentuale di clic: gli utenti infatti possono vedere immediatamente che il tuo annuncio è pertinente con la loro ricerca. Inoltre, qualsiasi parola chiave che includi nel testo dell'annuncio viene automaticamente evidenziata in grassetto su Google quando un utente la immette tra le parole chiave della sua ricerca. Ciò contribuisce ad attirare l'attenzione dell'utente sull'annuncio.
  
  Includere il nome della tua azienda o del dominio del tuo sito web nella prima riga del testo dell'annuncio di solito non attira più clic, a meno che tu non stia facendo pubblicità a un'azienda affermata con un marchio di forte impatto in grado di fare la differenza tra il tuo annuncio e gli altri. 

Questi suggerimenti tratti dalle linee guida di adwords sono da tenere in assoluta considerazione.
Una nota importante è quella di provare, provare, provare. Nell'account di adwords è possibile inserire più annunci per gruppo di annunci ed è una caratteristica che può permetterci di fare il salto di qualità.

Questi annunci verranno fatti ruotare finchè non si  avranno abbastanza statistiche da permetterci di scegliere il migliore per la nostra campagna pubblicitaria.

Un'ultima impostazione di assoluta importanza riguarda l'area geografica di interesse dove verranno pubblicati i nostri annunci. Google tramite un controllo dell'ip risale alla città dell'utente e di conseguenza decide di pubblicare o meno il nostro annuncio adwords. E' logico allora pensare di ridurre l'area di influenza, nella sezione impostazioni, alle sole zone dove abbiamo intenzione di vendere il nostro prodotto. Un clic da un'area fuori dalla nostra zona di intervento sarebbero solo soldi sprecati.

How do you keep up with technology?

In our modern world, technology keeps getting better and better by the day. The prices of these electronic devices have greatly gone down in the past 10 years. A lot of computers are getting replaced by the day but the big question that comes into our mind is that “How do you keep up with technology”?

The time gap for replacing a computer has greatly decreased nowadays. Before, you can replace your computer in every five years but now, things have changed and the rapid advance in technology makes it hard for us to keep up with the current technology.

For example, 10 years ago, the fastest computer would not be more than 1 GHz and to have a computer that has 1 GHz would cost you a fortune. Now, you can get a dual-core computer at a speed of 3.2 GHz x2 at the same price that it was for the 1 GHz computer. It is simply amazing how things could change in past 10 years and the technological gap that is increasing by day is leaving us outdated in just merely a couple of years.

Backup How-To's: Home Backup: Hard Disk Imaging and Cloning

Continuing on from the previous article of the Backup How-To series, in this article we will learn about another approach to data backup called HDD image backup. Image-based backup is fundamentally different from files-based method and provides higher speed and accuracy of backups. However, it has its own disadvantages which we will discuss below.
Definition of Image Backup
The term "image backup" or "disk image" assumes a complete copy of a hard drive which is created on a sector-by-sector basis without querying the file system. Due to its nature, HDD imaging can be used to back up data that can't be accessed on a file level, e.g. boot records. Usually it is used to create a complete snapshot of a hard drive or disk partition and back it up as a whole.
System Backup
The first and probably the most important advantage of drive imaging is its capability to back up operating system. This is of great value in terms of protection against complete drive failure, because recovering a file backup implies correct functioning of the OS which in this case needs to be set up from scratch. Restoring an image backup allows bringing the system to a working state in a matter of minutes.
Program Backup
Another advantage of image-based backup is that it helps protecting programs installed in your system. If you're more or less experienced PC user, you must know that simple copying of program files from one computer to another doesn't guarantee that the program will work. At the same time, image backup includes absolutely all data and its restoration guarantees proper operation of all applications.
Advanced Usage of Image Backup
Disk imaging lies in the principle of all HDD cloning software. By making an image backup of one hard disk and restoring it to a different device, you receive a drive with absolutely similar contents. The same idea can be successfully applied if you need to set up multiple identical computers. If you enjoy testing different hardware, or if you are famous as a nerd-next-door who is always ready to help with computers, you will certainly find it of great usefulness.
Disadvantages of Image Backup
Unlike common file-based backup, drive imaging can be hardly used to back up specific files and folders. Since it doesn't query the file system, there is no way to differentiate which sectors are "important" for the user and which are not. Therefore, it has to be a full backup which costs more time and disk space.
